OTA TV in Canada

I really don't understand why more people don't use Over the Air television,
sure, you initially have to pay a good $500 upfront, but it pays for itself over time!
It's free, and in my opinion, with a good enough set, you'll get every channel you need! My family would at least, NBC, CBS, CBC, City, A Channel and Global to list just a few.
Let's do the math... my parents pay almost $100 a month, on Cable TV alone!
And we watch, maybe 16 or so channels out of roughly 600 available from rogers.
CBS - Avaible OTA, easily captured with outdoor antenna.
City (Breakfast Television) - "
Boston Bruins Games - Also avaible (for the most part) over OTA with a good outdoor antenna.
Any channel with Family Guy, The Simpsons, etc - FOX, avaible over OTA like apples in a grocery store.

Those are just a few... honestly, I would want to switch to OTA to save money. That isn't going to happen until our Rogers equipment becomes defunct, but if we didn't have all of these boxes, (I think we have 3 that we have bought, and one that we rent) it would be a great way to save money!

I don't plan to move anywhere father from the US border once I go to University (hopefully Queens), so I know what I'm doing for television in University, Over the Air! And afterwards I think I'd be okay to stay with OTA, especially since I hope to move to the Toronto Area, or the country in that general area. So for all of you who had no idea of what OTA was, now you know.
And if you've ever wondered why you don't hear about it, Bell and Rogers actually PAY big name stores not to mention or sell major OTA equipment, sneaky no?

Man, I haven't had a rant where I don't swear, I think..
ever ?
